Functional exercises include movements such as squatting, pushing, pulling and pressing targeting the muscles in the upper and lower body and emphasizing core stability. Quite simply functional fitness is just a balanced exercise session targeting the whole body and improving your ability to climb stairs, carry grocery bags or bend down to pick up your kids. The goal is to train your muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks by simulating common movements.
